The cotton is very fine and feels wonderful - if you are to wear it in public (rather than to bed lol) you will probably want to wear a cami underneath. It's not sheer like chiffon but in any direct light your skin and your silhouette underneath will show. It is so fine, though that even on a hot day the extra layer does not matter (as long as your cami is also cotton or breathable of course!)
