Tips For Travel and Packing Plus Size Clothing

I love to travel; getting out of the house and seeing a new place is so exciting and fun. I always plan on taking some time to just relax when I’m on vacation, but I plan lots of activities too. Shopping, dining, seeing a show, and sightseeing are all at the top of my list. Sometimes it’s hard to plan comfortable outfits to pack for all those different activities. But I’ve learned how to keep my suitcase light when I travel.

First of all, you have to resist the urge to bring your entire closet with you; it just isn’t possible. Instead, choose some comfortable separates that you can mix, match, and layer to create several outfits.

If I’m just relaxing around the hotel or resort, a comfy pair of khaki pants with a colored tank top works great. To go out for dinner, I just put a dressy plus size jacket over that same outfit to create a whole new look. Layering to make new outfits is the best way to travel light but still have lots of options.

Take a look at your closet; do you have comfortable khaki or black pants? What plus size tops could you combine them with?

If you want to add to your plus size clothing travel wardrobe, look for colored tanks and blouses you can put with cover ups and jackets. I find that shopping for plus size women’s clothing online is best; it’s easy and gives you lots of great options.

Stephen, Your Designer

“There is an amazing feeling of artistic accomplishment when all the parts come together into one harmonious aesthetic. It's a connection with who you are and the elements you choose to express yourself visually. This is what making clothing is all about for me. It's like when a songwriter hears his first written notes from a voice or a baker who has practiced a recipe and nails it or a figure skater who exceeds her own expectations. I express my sense of art in clothing. I see things in color, shape and texture. I react to the touch of silk on my skin and my eyes are aware of how color combinations make me feel. My goal is to bring all of these intuitive notions to garments that are sized for larger women. If I can accomplish this then I have reached my goal.” – Stephen
