Plus Size Clothing with Lace for an Elegant Touch
Though they were once quite limited, the options available to women shopping for plus size clothing are now nearly endless. Designers from around the world are incorporating all sorts of different styles into their newest collections. One that has been catching my eye particularly is lace. This light fabric adds an elegant touch to even a simple blouse.
Lace has been made by artisans since ancient times, but true lace like that now found in modern clothing was not crafted until the late 1600’s. Since then, it has gone through many notable changes, especially when machines were developed that can mechanically sew lace during the Industrial Revolution. Thanks to those machines, modern designers can now include lace in their garments at a fraction of the cost that handmade lace would cost.
When it comes to your casual plus size clothing wardrobe, lace definitely deserves a place. This light fabric is cool and comfortable even on hot days. Its unique look and texture gives any outfit a distinctive, elegant style.
Stephen, Your Designer
“There is an amazing feeling of artistic accomplishment when all the parts come together into one harmonious aesthetic. It's a connection with who you are and the elements you choose to express yourself visually. This is what making clothing is all about for me. It's like when a songwriter hears his first written notes from a voice or a baker who has practiced a recipe and nails it or a figure skater who exceeds her own expectations. I express my sense of art in clothing. I see things in color, shape and texture. I react to the touch of silk on my skin and my eyes are aware of how color combinations make me feel. My goal is to bring all of these intuitive notions to garments that are sized for larger women. If I can accomplish this then I have reached my goal.” – Stephen
